FAQs
- Do you have any pets?
- Yes, I have a cat named Ben. Ben was the model for the Cat prints "Ben" and "Benjamin". He was also used as a reference model for an illustration I did for the book "Jasper's Magic Blanket". For that particular picture, Ben had to pretend to be a dog!
- Why do you draw so many dogs?
- They are fun to draw and my customers are always looking forward to my newest doggy art.
- Which do you like better: dogs or cats?
- I like to draw dogs more, but I'm actually more of a "cat person."
- Who is your favorite author?
- Chris Van Allsburg
- What is your favorite children's book?
- Wow! This one is way too hard for me to answer because I am an avid reader of children's books and have too many favorites to choose only one.
- Why do you draw dogs and cats with big heads?
- I like to entertain with my art – especially children. They always laugh when they see my "big headed" doggies.
- Who is your favorite artist?
- I would have to say J.C. Leyendecker is my favorite artist. I also really like the art of William Adolf Bouguereau, Carter Goodrich, Bill Mayer, and Gary Kelley.
- What is your favorite illustration that you've done?
- I do not have a single favorite.
- How long does it take for you to draw a picture?
- It depends on the project. Typically children's picture book art takes anywhere from five to 16 hours for each illustration.
- What are your hobbies?
- I enjoy reading children's picture books, looking at art, and exercising. Someday I may even audition to be the next American Gladiator! (just kidding...I think I'll stick to drawing).
- What is your favorite food?
- Mexican food is my favorite! Send me your salsa recipes!
- What is something that you are afraid of?
- I am not a big fan of grasshoppers. Their beady little eyes, and the way they just jump out at you...I'm scaring myself now, so no more questions, okay?
